Movie: Waterworld (1995)
3) Waterworld begins with a dial/pointer that starts at the 300/400 marker before ticking backwards towards 200/300, i.e. to tell the story of how the world, including it's major cities, first came to be under water. The Mariner is described early on in the movie as "coming from the West", carrying a baby lime tree bearing good fruit that looks more like a Bonzai tree. The first main action scene features the Smokers "coming from the Sun" themed with military clothes and vehicles - some wearing gas mask looking balaclavas and others with breathing equipment. The Smokers are spreading smoke and what could be interpreted as Chemtrails in a circle around the central pole of the Mariner's trimaran. In the next scene a drifter tells the Mariner that he just came from a refugee camp, showing him a paper with the message "come aboard" as well as "children and infants". There is larger Japanese writing superimposed. The paper is taken from a China Airlines brochure, though this is not obvious to the casual viewer. The second half of the movie, on-board the decks of the Smoker's slave ship, resembles a concentration camp with hundreds of refugees of all ages. The ship is named after the real-life Exxon Valdez, which was involved in an oil spill - and the villain has a portrait of Joseph Hazelwood who sailed it - i.e. the elite Smokers could have got rich from oil. They have stockpiled lots of tinned food, including spam called SMEAT, which could be interpreted as "smoked out before stockpiling food/meat to eat". This food is given out on-board to the refugees whose faces appear filthy, unhealthy and impoverished. Besides Smirnoff there are boxes of vodka named Black Death among the canned meat - with an upside-down box saying "west" - preceded by a scene showing drawings of life! The girl accompanying the Mariner and Helen, named Enola (after the plane that dropped a nuclear bomb on Japan) has a map leading to the sanctuary of dry-land with an arrow pointing upwards to mountains and coordinates (86 56 27 59) for Mount Everest - but the writing is in Japanese. There is some emphasis on the "rising sun" during the movie. More paper is later recovered headed "China Airlines - Dynasty Fleet Facts"; Wiki states "Japan is the most important market of the carrier, with over 180 flights weekly from multiple points in Taiwan to 14 Japanese destinations". The Deacon has a calendar and framed painting on his wall showing a utopia in the mountains. His map to dry-land shows a straight horizontal line going east from what is presumably mount Everest (M) to roughly the area of Japan. There is also a National Geographic magazine with the words "New World Metropolis".

Movie: Prometheus (2012)
6) On arrival at the planet there is evidently a mist present, and the air is said to be toxic and unbreathable except at the bottom of a hollow mountain/cave, where previous occupants are suggested as having "terraformed" there (a word used in the earlier speech by Peter Weyland). The crew are wearing protective suits and masks, so as not to breathe the air.
